What is a green fee?

A green fee is the price you pay to play a round of golf as a visitor — the fee that gives you access to the “greens.” You pay it per round (usually for 9 or 18 holes), without being a member of the club. It’s how anyone can play almost any course in the Netherlands without a fixed membership.

How green fees work in the Netherlands

Green fees vary a lot — from around €15–25 at friendly pay-and-play and par-3 courses, up to €90 or more at championship venues. A few things affect the price:

  • 9 or 18 holes — a 9-hole round is roughly half the price of 18.
  • Weekday or weekend — weekends and holidays are usually a little more expensive.
  • The course — public and pay-and-play courses are the most affordable; private members’ clubs charge the most for visitors.
  • Season — summer rates are typically higher than winter.
