How it works

Your Course Handicap is the number of strokes you actually get on the course you’re playing today. It adjusts your Handicap Index for how hard that specific course is, using the formula from the World Handicap System:

Course Handicap = Handicap Index × (Slope ÷ 113) + (Course Rating − Par).

You’ll find the slope, course rating and par on the scorecard or the tee sign, usually listed per tee colour. Pick the tees you’re playing, type in the numbers, and you’ll see your strokes for the round. For a 9-hole round, use the 9-hole rating and slope — the calculator halves your index for you.
