Want to play golf on real courses in the Netherlands? Then you need the baanpermissie — the Dutch golf permit most people still call the GVB. I’m Marina Romanik, PGA-certified golf instructor in Utrecht, and I get beginners course-ready with private lessons in English, for a clear price of €129.

What the Dutch golf permit actually is

In the Netherlands you cannot simply turn up at most courses and pay a green fee. Clubs ask for proof that you know the basic rules and etiquette and can keep up with the pace of play. That proof is the baanpermissie (course permission), issued through the Dutch golf federation (NGF). It replaced the old GVB, and it is the first step on the ladder: baanpermissie → registered handicap → handicap 54 → lower.

Once you have it, the country opens up: pay-and-play courses everywhere, many member clubs with a registered handicap, and a proper round with friends instead of only the driving range.

How my course works

The permit has two sides: theory (rules and etiquette) and practice (can you actually play?). I take care of both in private lessons:

Your swing, made simple. Grip, posture, a relaxed swing you can repeat. We start on the covered range at Chi Chi Golf, whatever the weather.
The shots that get you round. Chipping, pitching and putting — the short game is where beginners lose most strokes, and where they improve fastest.
On the course. How to move safely, where to stand, how to keep a good pace, what to do in a bunker, and the small courtesies Dutch golfers expect.
The theory, without stress. I explain the rules that matter in plain English and tell you exactly how the theory test and the practical part are organised at the club, so nothing is a surprise.

There is no fixed number of lessons you must buy. Some students are ready after a handful of sessions, others enjoy taking more time — we go at your pace, at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht or Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen .

Price

The baanpermissie course with me is €129. Private lessons outside the course start at €35 for 30 minutes, and your very first lesson is €25 when you book on WhatsApp — a good way to try before you commit. All prices are on the prices page .

Do the theory early. Most people find the rules and etiquette part easier than they fear, and once it is done we can spend every minute of your lessons on the swing and the short game — the part that actually gets you round a course.

What is the baanpermissie, and is it the same as the GVB?

The baanpermissie is the Dutch golf permit that lets you play on courses without a member introducing you. It replaced the old GVB (Golfvaardigheidsbewijs); many golfers still call it GVB. With it you can register a handicap, and from there you work towards handicap 54 and lower.

What does the €129 course include?

Private lessons with me that take you from beginner to course-ready — grip, swing, chipping, putting and how to move around a course safely and at a good pace — plus clear guidance on the theory part. Message me and I will tell you exactly how the theory test and the practical part work at the club, and plan your lessons.

Do you teach the course in English?

Yes. The whole course is in English (Dutch, Ukrainian or Russian on request), and I explain the Dutch golf system — NGF, baanpermissie, handicap 54, qualifying rounds — in plain words.

How long does it take?

It depends on how often you practise. Many students are ready after a handful of lessons over a few weeks; some like more time. There is no fixed number of sessions you must buy — we go at your pace.
