Nearly a century of golf

Amsterdamse Golf Club first opened in 1934, so it is now close to a hundred years old. It is a classic parkland course — 18 holes, par 72, laid out among mature trees and calm, well-kept greens. Parkland means the golf lives between the trees and the open grass, soft and green, the kind of setting where a good shot feels really good.

This is a course with character, and it is rated challenging. The layout asks you to think. Where do I place my tee shot? Which side of the green is the safe side? Golfers who already have a steady swing love these little questions — every hole gives you something to solve. And many players describe the same feeling after a round here: they walk off the last green already planning how they will play it better next time. That is the mark of a course you want to come back to, and other golfers clearly agree — it scores 8.2 out of 10 on LeadingCourses and 4.6 out of 5 on Hole19.

The club is set up for golf you take seriously. There is a driving range to warm up, a putting green to find your speed, a full golf academy, and a restaurant to relax in when you are done. To play, you need a valid handicap (GVB), and visitors are usually asked to come with an introduction from a member — this keeps the course quiet and in beautiful condition. A round sits in the higher green-fee band: around €100 for 18 holes, about €60 for 9.

So who will enjoy it most? Golfers who already have their handicap and want a mature, thinking course to test their game. And if you are still building toward that, wonderful — a course like this is a lovely goal to work toward.
