De Hooge Rotterdamsche

Golf should feel easy

Hi, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf instructor. I believe golf is for everyone — children, adults, beginners and players who want to get better. My lessons are friendly, calm and a little bit fun, so you always leave the lesson smiling. I teach in Dutch, English, Ukrainian and Russian, so you can learn in the language you feel most at home in.

A course on a hill

Golfclub Hooge Bergsche sits in the green Rottemeren area near Bergschenhoek, in the province of Zuid-Holland. What makes it special is the land itself: the course is built on a ridge about 25 metres high. In a country as flat as the Netherlands, that is a real treat. From the higher points you can look out over the Rotterdam skyline — a lovely view while you play.

This is a parkland course with 18 holes, set in open, leafy surroundings. The gentle slopes give the round a bit of character and a pleasant challenge, so playing well here feels rewarding.

There is plenty to enjoy beyond the holes. A driving range lets you warm up and practise your swing before you tee off. There is a golf academy on site, a restaurant, and a bar with a terrace where you can relax with a drink after your round. Buggies are available too, which is handy on a course with some height.

Hooge Bergsche is welcoming and easy to access. It is a pay-and-play course, so visitors are warmly welcome, and you can book your tee time online. It is open all year round and affiliated with the NGF. There are group events and a ladies programme as well, which makes it a friendly place to come with friends or to start golf in good company.

Best for improving players who enjoy a course with a little shape and a great view, ladies’ groups, and anyone who likes a relaxed, welcoming club with good practice facilities.

Play it with confidence

A course with slopes and elevation is more fun when your swing and your short game are steady. That is exactly where a few lessons make a big difference. Together we can work on solid contact, smart course choices and the confidence to enjoy every shot — so a view like the one over Rotterdam becomes the reward, not a distraction.

Wherever you choose to play, a little coaching goes a long way. I teach at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and at Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen, and I would love to help you play happier, more confident golf.
