Review by Marina Romanik

Hi, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf teacher based in Utrecht. What I love most about coaching is the moment a player relaxes, swings freely, and watches the ball fly the way they hoped. A welcoming, easy-going course is the perfect place for that feeling to grow — and Crayestein, with its calm parkland and friendly academy, is exactly that kind of place for golfers who want to enjoy the game and quietly get better.
Golf & Country Club Crayestein sits on the edge of Dordrecht in Zuid-Holland, tucked against the beautiful Hollandse Biesbosch. Water is everywhere here — the course is framed by the Wantij, the Spaarbekken reservoir and the wide Merwede — so you play surrounded by green and a real sense of nature, just south of Rotterdam.
It is a parkland course of 18 holes, par 71, measuring about 4,734 metres. Parkland means soft, tree-lined fairways and a gentle, walkable feel — the kind of layout that rewards a steady, well-placed shot more than raw power. That makes it a lovely round for players of every level, whether you are finding your rhythm or sharpening your scoring.
There is plenty to enjoy before and after your game, too. A covered, floodlit driving range lets you warm up in any weather, and a putting green, short-game area and practice bunkers give you everything you need to find your touch. On site there’s a golf academy for lessons, a pro shop, and a comfortable restaurant with a bar and terrace — so you can finish your round with a relaxed drink looking back over the course.
Crayestein has also welcomed the professionals: it has hosted the European Senior Tour more than once. That is a quiet badge of quality — a course in good condition, set up to be both fair and fun.
Best for: beginners and improving players who want a relaxed, complete day out — easy walking, great practice facilities, an on-site academy, and a warm clubhouse to finish in. Because it is a pay-and-play course, it is also wonderfully simple to visit.

A pretty course like Crayestein is even more fun when your swing feels reliable. A few focused lessons can do more than hours of guessing on your own — better contact, straighter drives, a short game that saves you shots, and the calm confidence to enjoy every hole.
I’m Marina Romanik, and I teach golfers of all ages and levels — beginners taking their very first swing, juniors, and experienced players who want to go lower.
