Review by Marina Romanik

Hi, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf instructor based in Utrecht. I love showing people of every age and level that golf is easier — and far more fun — than it looks. Whether you have never held a club or you simply want to play more freely, my goal is always the same: to help you enjoy your time on the course.
Golf & Country Club Veldzijde sits in Wilnis, right in the heart of the Groene Hart — the green, watery countryside of Holland. The club opened in 1985, and the course was shaped by Dutch architect Gerard Jol, a name well known for his thoughtful designs.
This is a parkland course with 18 holes and a par of 72, laid out across about 5,859 metres in two loops. The polder setting gives it real character: water comes into play, the land rolls with gentle elevation changes, and the fairways and greens are kept in lovely condition. It is the kind of place that feels calm and open, with plenty of space to breathe and enjoy the views.
Veldzijde is especially welcoming for beginners and families. There is an on-site golf academy, a short course that is perfect for your very first rounds, and a structured junior program for young players. Add a friendly restaurant, a driving range, a putting green and a short-game area, and you have everything you need to learn, practise and grow your game — all in one beautiful spot.
Visitors are warmly welcome here. An introduction is usually arranged before you play, so it is best to call ahead and the club will happily set up your round. A valid handicap certificate (GVB) is needed for the main course — and if you are still working towards yours, the academy and short course are exactly where to start.

A course like Veldzijde, with its water and gentle slopes, becomes so much more enjoyable when you trust your swing. A few good lessons make all the difference — better contact, a steadier short game, and the quiet confidence to take on each hole with a smile.
