Review by Marina Romanik

Hi, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf instructor. I love helping new and experienced players enjoy this beautiful game a little more every time they step onto the grass. Whether you are swinging a club for the very first time or chasing a lower handicap, I teach in a warm, patient and fun way — in Dutch, English, Ukrainian or Russian. Golf should make you smile, and that is always my goal.
Golf Club Leeuwenbergh sits on the Elzenlaan in Den Haag and has been welcoming golfers since 1988. The 18-hole, par-71 course was designed by the respected Dutch architect Gerard Jol, who shaped it into a gentle parkland layout — tree-lined fairways, soft greens and a calm, green setting that feels like a small escape from the city.
At around 5,534 metres, the course rewards smart, accurate golf rather than raw power. That makes it a real pleasure to play: every hole asks you to think, place your ball, and enjoy the walk. The mood here is friendly and relaxed, and it shows — Leeuwenbergh was even nominated as Sports Venue of the Year 2026 (Sportaccommodatie van het jaar), a lovely sign of how much care goes into this place.
The facilities are a big part of the charm. There is a covered and floodlit driving range, so you can practise comfortably whatever the season or the weather. A putting green, a short-game area and practice bunkers let you sharpen every part of your game. Add a welcoming clubhouse with a restaurant and a terrace, a pro shop, buggies for hire, and step-free access for wheelchair users, and you have a club that truly takes care of its visitors.
Best for: beginners and improving players. Leeuwenbergh is a pay-and-play course that warmly welcomes visitors, with online tee-time booking and play all year round. It is genuinely beginner-friendly, has a junior programme for young golfers, and an academy on site. For expats and newcomers to the Netherlands, that friendly, easy-going feel makes it a wonderful place to grow into the game.

A course as thoughtful as Leeuwenbergh comes alive when your swing feels reliable. Those tree-lined fairways and well-kept greens are far more fun when you can place your tee shot, control your distance, and roll in a few putts with confidence. That is exactly where a few lessons make all the difference.
