Golf & Country Club Bleijenbeek

Golf with a story

Hi, I am Marina Romanik, a PGA golf instructor based in Utrecht. I love courses that feel like a little adventure — places where the round itself tells a story. Some courses you simply play; others you remember for years. This is one I am genuinely excited to share with you.

Golf among castle ruins

Golf & Country Club Bleijenbeek sits on a beautiful 270-hectare estate in Afferden, Limburg, wrapped around the historic ruins of Bleijenbeek Castle. Imagine teeing off with old castle walls watching over you — it gives the whole round a wonderful, timeless feeling.

The course was designed by Gerard Jol and offers 27 holes laid out as three nine-hole loops. With a par of 73 and around 5,002 metres of golf, it gives you plenty of variety and the freedom to mix the loops for a fresh round every time. The style is classic parkland: tree-lined fairways, gentle water features, and the natural river dunes of the surrounding landscape.

What makes Bleijenbeek extra special is its setting inside National Park De Maasduinen. You are playing through real, protected nature — quiet, green, and full of character. It is the kind of place where the scenery alone is worth the trip, and the golf is simply the cherry on top.

The practice facilities here are excellent. There is a covered driving range, so the weather never gets in the way of a good warm-up, plus a putting green, a short-game and chipping area, and practice bunkers. With its on-site academy, active junior program, and welcoming country-club atmosphere, Bleijenbeek is a lovely place for beginners, juniors, and families to grow into the game — and for improving players to enjoy a round with a bit of soul. Golfers clearly agree: it earns a warm 8.0 on LeadingCourses and 4.4 out of 5 on Hole19.

Play it at your best

A round through castle grounds and river dunes is even more fun when your swing feels reliable. A few lessons before you go — a steadier drive, a sharper short game, more confidence around the greens — can turn a beautiful course into a beautiful score.

I teach at Chi Chi Golf in Utrecht and at Golfschool Hoenderdaal in Driebergen, in a friendly, relaxed way, in Dutch, English, Ukrainian or Russian, for all ages and levels. Whether you are just starting out or polishing your game for a special round, I would love to help you enjoy every shot more.
