Some courses feel like business. Anderstein feels like a day out. The moment you turn off the main road and the trees close in around you, you understand why so many golfers come here and then keep coming back. I love recommending it to students who want to improve and enjoy themselves — because here, the two things go hand in hand.
Golfbaan Anderstein sits in the forested hills of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, just outside the village of Maarsbergen. The Heuvelrug ridge is one of the most beautiful stretches of landscape in the Netherlands — a long spine of old woodland that feels almost surprising so close to the city. At Anderstein, that woodland wraps all around you. The fairways wind through the trees, the air smells of pine and earth, and the whole setting has a calm, almost meditative quality that is rare in Dutch golf.
The course itself is a proper, full-featured golfbaan — NGF-affiliated and equipped for every kind of golfer. The driving range is a natural first stop: warm up, find your swing, settle in before you head to the first tee. There is also an on-site golf academy, which means coaching and lessons are woven into the fabric of the club rather than being an afterthought. After your round, the restaurant and bar terrace give you the perfect reason to sit a little longer, debrief the round, and enjoy the surroundings. Buggy rental is available too, which makes the wooded terrain easy to enjoy for everyone.
What I especially like about Anderstein is how welcoming it is for young players. The junior programme is active and well-regarded — if you have a child who is curious about golf, this is a wonderful place to start them. Group events are also well catered for, so it works beautifully for corporate days, birthday outings, or a round with a group of friends who are not all the same level. Online tee-time booking keeps the whole experience smooth from start to finish.
Beginners often tell me they feel a little intimidated on their first visits to a golf club. Anderstein is the antidote to that. The wooded setting takes the pressure off — it is a place where you focus on the hole in front of you, not on who is watching. The trees frame each shot, give the course character, and make even a modest round feel like an adventure.

A round at Anderstein through those tall trees is already a pleasure. A round where you are striking the ball cleanly, reading your distances, and trusting your swing? That is something else entirely. The more confident you become, the more you will enjoy every metre of that forest course.
That is where a few lessons make all the difference. Whether you are playing your first ever round or working to break a score plateau, we can work on exactly what will unlock the next level for you — and Anderstein is a perfect course to put it into practice. The combination of a great driving range, proper coaching facilities, and a course that rewards good thinking makes it an ideal place to grow as a golfer.
I would love to help you get there. Reach out, book a lesson, and let’s get started — the forest is waiting.
