Golfbaan Beemster (Middenbeemster)

Nine holes in a UNESCO polder

Golfbaan Beemster — also known as Kavel II — sits on the Volgerweg in Middenbeemster, right in the middle of the Beemster polder that UNESCO lists as World Heritage. The wide, flat lines of that reclaimed land are the setting for the golf, and it is a pretty, open place to play. The club’s own website describes a nine-hole parkland course, par 32, running to about 2,100 metres, that first opened in 2004. Golfers on LeadingCourses give it 8.2 out of 10 from 153 ratings — a warm score for a smaller course, and a good sign of how much visitors enjoy the round.

This is a course that welcomes new golfers first. It suits beginners, juniors and anyone building confidence: a friendly nine you can walk in an easy afternoon, with a par of 32 that keeps the focus on your short game rather than raw power. Play the two loops and you have a full 18 holes on the card.

Play without a handicap

You do not need a GVB or a handicap here. The club runs Golfbaan Beemster as a pay-and-play course, so visitors are welcome to simply book a tee time and play. The green fee, as the club lists it, is €28 for nine holes and €45 for eighteen — gentle on the wallet for a day out. There is a golf academy on site, a driving range and a putting green to warm up on, a pro shop, and a restaurant with a bar and terrace where you can sit and enjoy the polder views after your round. Buggy and club rental are available too, so you can arrive with empty hands and still play.

Short holes, sharp scoring

A par-32 nine like Beemster is won with your wedges and your putter, not your driver. The shorter holes reward a clean, repeatable swing and a steady short game — exactly the part of golf I most enjoy teaching, because it is where beginners see their scores drop fastest.
