Four landscapes, one round
Golfbaan Het Woold opened its holes in 2000, designed by Han Wessels, and it grew into something special: 27 heathland holes, par 72, laid out as two loops so you can choose your day. What makes it different is the walk. In a single round the course carries you through four different natural landscapes, right on the edge of Nationaal Park De Groote Peel. Heather, open sky, quiet water, real Brabant nature. It is honest golf in a beautiful place.
And the people here have earned their reputation. For ten years running, golfers themselves voted Het Woold the most hospitable course in the Netherlands, and the best for price and quality too. Ten years. That is not luck. In 2026 it also placed fifth in North Brabant in the LeadingCourses Golfers’ Choice. When a course keeps winning awards that other golfers hand out, you know the welcome is real.
For a new golfer, this is a kind place to grow. There is a shorter course on site to find your feet, a covered and floodlit driving range so weather and darkness never stop you, a putting green, and a short-game area where the real scoring is learned. Lessons are available too, so if you are working toward your handicap and your GVB, this is a good home to build it. After the round, the terrace at the clubhouse is waiting. Coffee, a warm meal, tired legs, happy face. That is my favourite part of a golf day, honestly.

Here is the truth I see every week on the tee: a course this pretty is even more fun when your swing does what you ask. You spend less time looking for your ball in the heather and more time enjoying the view. Small steps make a big difference. A little work on your grip, your balance, your short game, and suddenly the whole round feels lighter.
That is what I do. I teach beginners, children, and players who want to sharpen up, in Dutch, English, Ukrainian and Russian, always in a friendly, no-pressure way. Wherever you choose to play, a few good lessons make the game more fun and your scores more kind.

Do I need a handicap to play at Golfbaan Het Woold?
Yes — a valid handicap card (GVB or equivalent) is required to play the main course. If you are just starting out, the shorter course on site is a friendly place to begin while you work toward your GVB, and the on-site academy's lessons will help you get there sooner.
How much does a green fee cost?
An 18-hole green fee is around €89.50. Het Woold has won the best price-quality award in the Netherlands for ten years running — genuinely great value for 27 beautifully maintained heathland holes.

The club offers a covered and lit driving range, putting green, short-game area, practice bunkers, a pro shop, buggy and club rental, and Restaurant Volentieri with a terrace — more than enough for a great full day out.
How do I get there and is there parking?
The club is at Gezandebaan 46a, 5725 TN Heusden (Asten) in Noord-Brabant, right on the edge of Nationaal Park De Groote Peel. Free parking is available on site. From Utrecht the drive takes around 90 minutes.
