Golf in the fresh air
Hi, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf instructor based in Utrecht. For me, golf is about two things: playing well and enjoying every minute outside. I teach all ages and levels — children, adults, beginners and improving players — in Dutch, English, Ukrainian and Russian. My favourite lessons happen on calm, green courses where you can breathe, focus, and actually have fun while you learn.
A heathland escape
Golfbaan Soestduinen sits in the sandy dunes and heathland of Soest, in the green heart of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. It is a full 18-hole, par-72 layout, and it plays as a true heathland course — open sky, soft sandy ground, and the quiet beauty of the dune landscape all around you. Every round here feels like a peaceful escape, just about 13 minutes by car from Utrecht.
The setting is the real star. The natural surroundings make the course feel calm and unhurried, even on a busy day. With its moderate challenge, Soestduinen rewards thoughtful golf without ever feeling intimidating — which makes it a lovely place for improving players who want to test their game in beautiful, relaxed conditions.
There is plenty to help you play your best, too. A driving range and a putting green let you warm up properly before you tee off, so your first holes feel as good as your last. And after eighteen holes in the fresh air, the on-site restaurant is the perfect spot to relax with a drink and talk through your round.
Soestduinen is a members-with-introduction club, so you’ll need a valid handicap card (GVB or equivalent) to play. Think of that card as your passport to one of the most unspoiled heathland settings near Utrecht — a sign of the quality and calm you can expect when you arrive.
Best for: improving golfers and nature lovers who want a peaceful, scenic round close to Utrecht.
