Golfbaan Soestduinen sits in the sandy dunes and heathland of Soest, in Utrecht’s own dune country. It is a heathland course — think fine grasses, soft purple heather, and pine — and that natural setting is the whole charm. The 18-hole, par-72 layout winds through this landscape so that each hole feels a little private, a little tucked away. On a still morning you hear birds before you hear other players.

The course asks good questions of your game without ever shouting at you. It is a moderate challenge: enough to make you think about club choice and placement, gentle enough that a round stays fun from the first tee to the last putt. There is a driving range and a putting green to warm up before you play, and a restaurant on site for a coffee or a long lunch after your round. That mix — real golf, real practice, a warm place to sit afterwards — is exactly what makes a golf day feel complete.

Soestduinen is a members-with-introduction club, so you bring a valid handicap card (GVB or equivalent) when you visit. I always see this as a good sign, not a barrier. It usually means a course that is well kept and calm, where players respect the pace and the greens roll true. And it is only about 13 minutes by car from Utrecht — so this natural escape is genuinely close to home for many golfers here.

Who will enjoy it most? Players who are improving and want a beautiful place to test what they are learning. If you already have your GVB and you want somewhere peaceful to grow your game, this heathland is a joy.
