Room to swing freely

Hi, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf instructor. Some courses simply invite you to relax — and the wide polder fairways of Broekpolder, shining with water and fringed with soft reeds out near Rotterdam, are exactly that kind of place. They reward the calm, confident swing I most love to teach. I work with beginners, juniors, and players who just want more fun from the game, in Dutch, English, Ukrainian or Russian, so everyone feels at home on these open, friendly holes.

The course of the frogs

Golfclub Broekpolder sits in the green polder landscape of Vlaardingen, looking out over the open lowlands of Midden-Delfland. It is a parkland course with a character all its own: wide, welcoming fairways winding between water features fringed with soft reeds. On a quiet morning the reeds rustle, the water shines, and you really feel you have stepped out of the city and into nature. The club has a charming signature — the frog. You will spot this friendly little symbol around the course, a happy nod to the watery world the holes are built around. It gives Broekpolder a warm, playful personality that visitors remember long after their round. This is a course with real golfing pedigree. The original 18-hole layout came from the respected designer J.J. Frank Pennink, a name that golfers across the Netherlands know well. Over the years the course has been lovingly cared for and improved, with later work by Gerard Jol and a thoughtful 2021/2022 renovation by Frank Pont. That ongoing attention keeps the holes fresh, fair, and a pleasure to play. What makes Broekpolder special is the balance it strikes. The open fairways give you room to breathe and swing freely, while the water and reeds add beauty and gentle challenge. There is a welcoming clubhouse with a restaurant for a relaxed bite after your round, a pro shop for anything you need, and buggies for hire if you would like to ride between holes. Visitors are warmly received, and the club is a friendly place for group outings and events. Best for: improving players who want generous fairways and lovely scenery, and golfers who enjoy a course with a story and a smile. With its open, water-lined holes, it is a beautiful place to put good technique into practice.

Play it with confidence

A course like Broekpolder rewards a calm, repeatable swing — especially around all that pretty water. That is exactly what I love to teach. A few lessons can turn nervous shots near the reeds into confident ones, help you read the open fairways, and make your whole round feel easier and more fun. If you are just starting, I will get you comfortable with the basics so your first rounds are a joy, not a worry. If you already play, we sharpen the details that lower your scores. And if golf is brand new to you, do not be shy — helping beginners fall in love with the game is my favourite part of the job. Come and learn with me, Marina Romanik. Book a lesson online, send me a WhatsApp, or just call — and let’s make your golf more fun, one happy swing at a time.
