Small club, big welcome
Hi, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf instructor. I love helping people fall for this game — beginners taking their very first swing, juniors full of energy, and players who simply want to enjoy their round a little more. Golf should feel friendly and fun, and a warm, easy-going club is the perfect place to feel that.
Green golf in Helmond
The Helmondse Golfclub ‘Overbrug’ sits on the edge of Helmond in Noord-Brabant, founded back in 1989. What makes it lovely is its setting: the course borders a nature area and follows the little river Schevelingseloop, so you play surrounded by greenery and quiet water. It’s a peaceful, natural spot to spend a few hours.
This is a 9-hole course, and that is one of its real charms. Nine holes is friendly. You can play a full, satisfying loop without giving up your whole day, and you can walk the same holes a second time to make a longer round. For learners that rhythm is a gift — you see the same shots again, and you feel yourself improving in real time.
The club is well set up to help you grow. There’s a covered driving range, so you can practice your swing whatever the weather, plus a putting green and a short-game area to sharpen the parts of the game that save the most strokes. There’s a golf academy on site, a clubhouse with a restaurant and a bar terrace to relax afterwards, and buggies and trolleys to rent if you’d like a lighter walk.
Best of all, ‘Overbrug’ is genuinely welcoming. Visitors are welcome, you can book your tee time online, and the club runs a junior program — a sign of a place that truly cares about new and young golfers. Beginners and families will feel right at home here, and that makes it an ideal course to build confidence on.

Do I need a handicap to play at HGC 'Overbrug'?
Yes, a valid handicap (GVB) is required. The club is NGF-affiliated, so your Dutch golf card or a recognised international handicap is accepted at the bar.
Can visitors play, and how do I book a tee time?
Visitors are welcome, typically with an introduction from a member. You can reserve your tee time online through the club's own website at hgc-overbrug.nl — fast and straightforward.
Is the course good for beginners and juniors?
Very much so. HGC 'Overbrug' is openly beginner-friendly and runs a dedicated junior programme. The compact nine-hole layout lets new players settle in without pressure, and the covered driving range means you can warm up whatever the weather.
