Hi, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf instructor based in Utrecht. I love helping golfers of every age and level fall in love with this game — beginners, juniors, returning players, and expats settling into the Netherlands. Some courses simply make you breathe out and smile. This is one of them.

Golfclub Hooge Graven sits in the green countryside near Ommen, in the province of Overijssel. Founded in 1993, it has grown into one of the most admired courses in the region — and the awards prove it. Hooge Graven was named a Golfers’ Choice course for 2026, ranked #1 in Overijssel, #22 in the Netherlands, and #302 in all of Europe. That is wonderful company to keep.
What makes it special is the land itself. This is true heathland golf: 18 generous holes set among open skies, natural grasses, and the soft colours of the Overijssel countryside. The fairways feel wide and welcoming, the pace is calm, and everywhere you look there is space to breathe. With a par of 72, the round gives you a satisfying challenge while still letting you enjoy the scenery hole after hole.
