Review by Marina Romanik

Hello, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf teacher. I love courses that ask you to think, because they make you a smarter, calmer player. When a fairway curves and the trees crowd in, you learn to plan your shot before you swing — and that habit lifts your whole game. Here is a course that rewards exactly that kind of golf.
Golfclub Lochemse sits in the gentle, green Achterhoek, in the town of Lochem in Gelderland. The club opened its 18-hole course in 1993, designed by the Dutch specialists Eschauzier & Thate. It is a true parkland layout, par 72, woven into the classic coulissenlandschap — the hedge-and-pocket landscape that gives this part of the Netherlands its quiet charm.
What makes a round here special is the variety. The holes wind through mature trees and along water, with doglegs that bend left and right and fairways that ask for an honest, well-placed shot. The terrain rolls and changes, so no two holes feel the same, and you finish each one with a little more focus than you started. Golfers who like a course with character — one that asks you to play with your head as well as your hands — will feel right at home.
There is plenty to support your game, too. The driving range is covered and lit, so you can warm up in any weather, and there are putting and short-game areas plus practice bunkers. Behind the 18th green you’ll find a friendly 3-hole par-3 course, a lovely place for beginners and juniors to find their feet. With a golf academy, a welcoming clubhouse, restaurant and terrace, the club is set up for players of every level — beginners, improving golfers, families and juniors all have a place here.

A thoughtful course like this is so much more fun when your swing is ready for it. A few good lessons help you shape your shots, escape the trees with confidence, and read those rolling greens — and suddenly the doglegs become a pleasure instead of a puzzle.
Wherever you play, a little coaching goes a long way. I teach all ages and levels, in Dutch, English, Ukrainian or Russian, with patience and a lot of fun. Book a lesson with me and let’s get your game ready for your next round. I’d love to help you play your best and enjoy every hole.
