Golf among glacial boulders
Golfparc Sandur lies on the Hondsrug in Emmen, the sandy ridge that the ice age left across Drenthe. Frank Pont laid out the course, which opened in 2005. From the club’s own description, the nine holes wind past glacial boulders, woodland, rhododendrons and water — a real garden of a course. You play the loop, and over a full round of eighteen the par is 68, across about 4,830 metres.

Sandur is a parkland course, and it is made to be welcoming. It suits beginners, juniors and families most of all — people who want a pretty, friendly place to play without pressure. The club runs a junior program and has lessons on site, so a young or new golfer can grow here step by step.
Playing here as a visitor
Sandur is pay-and-play, which is the easy part for a visitor. You do not need a handicap or a GVB card — you book a tee time online and come to play. A green fee is €20 for 9 holes; play the loop twice for a full round and it is €40. The course is open year-round.

Soft hands, steady contact
A gentle parkland loop like Sandur rewards clean, repeatable contact far more than big distance — the water and the trees punish a wild shot, not a short one. Before a relaxed round on ground like this, the part I most enjoy teaching is a simple, confident swing and a soft short game around the green. That is where new golfers find their best scores, and their most fun.
