Golfpark De Purmer lies on open polder ground at Purmerend, in Noord-Holland. Tom McAuley and Bruno Steensels designed the course, and it opened in 1989. The club lists 27 holes here, laid out as three separate nine-hole loops — the Rode, Witte and Gele lus — that play to a par of 71 over about 5,880 metres. This is flat, wide-open parkland: broad fairways, big Waterland skies, and water spread across all three loops.

What the wide fairways ask
Open polder golf looks gentle, but all that width and water quietly tempt you into swinging too hard. The fairways here show every swing tendency clearly, which is exactly why I love teaching on ground like this. Before a round over these three loops, the part of the game I most enjoy helping golfers build is a steady, repeatable swing and smart club choice — that is what keeps the ball dry and the card happy.
