Golf the way it should feel

Hi, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf teacher based in Utrecht. I love helping people fall for this game — first-timers, juniors, parents picking it back up, and players who simply want to score better. My promise is always the same: clear, friendly coaching and a lot of fun along the way. When a course mixes a real challenge with a warm welcome, I get excited to share it with you.

A gem in the Groene Hart

Golfpark Wilnis sits right in the heart of the Groene Hart, the green polder landscape that gives this part of the Netherlands its calm, open beauty. It is an 18-hole parkland course, laid out as two flowing loops and shaped by designers Gerard Jol and Michiel van der Vaart. Their clever routing makes every round feel varied — water, gentle contours and well-placed bunkers ask smart questions, while the wide polder skies make the whole day a pleasure.

Par here is 72, and the course earns its “challenging” reputation in the best way: it rewards a thoughtful, well-planned game. You will want to think about your tee shots, pick your targets and trust your short game — exactly the skills that make golf so satisfying once they click.

What I love most for newcomers is the par-3 short course. It is the perfect, friendly place to learn the game, build confidence and enjoy real golf without pressure. From there, the step up to the main course feels natural and exciting. With a golf academy, a junior programme and lessons on site, Wilnis is a place where beginners and young players are genuinely welcomed and encouraged to grow.

The practice facilities are excellent. A covered, floodlit driving range means you can warm up or work on your swing in any weather, and there is a putting green, a short-game area and practice bunkers to sharpen every part of your game. After your round, the clubhouse, restaurant and terrace are a lovely spot to relax and talk through the day. Buggies, club rental and trolleys are all available, so it is easy to play whether you are a member or visiting for the first time.

Best of all, Wilnis is pay-and-play with online tee-time booking, and it is only about a twenty-minute drive from Utrecht — so it is wonderfully easy to plan a day of golf in the polder.
