Some places just feel open
I love a course where the sky feels bigger. You stand on the tee, you breathe, and already the round is good — before you even swing. That feeling is why I teach: golf gives you space, and space is where you play your best. Let me tell you about a course that has plenty of it.
Harradine parkland by the water
Grevelingenhout Golf & Country Club sits in Bruinisse, in the wide green landscape of Zeeland near the Grevelingen waterways. The course opened in 1988 and was designed by Donald Harradine — a name many golfers in Europe know and trust. His parkland style is generous and honest. The holes are laid out with room to breathe, framed by trees and by that big Zeeland sky.
It is a full 18 holes, par 72, and around 6,151 metres. That is a real, complete golf course — enough to keep an experienced player thinking, yet fair enough that a newer golfer never feels punished. Harradine had a gift for this balance. You get variety and a little challenge, but the course invites you in rather than fighting you.
Room to grow your game
This is a course where learning feels natural. There is a driving range and a putting green to warm up, a pro shop for what you need, and an on-site academy — golf lessons live here. New golfers and juniors are genuinely welcome; the club runs a junior programme, and the open parkland gives beginners space to swing freely and build confidence hole by hole.
For the day itself, everything is comfortable. There is a restaurant, a bar and a terrace to sit and enjoy after your round — one of my favourite parts of golf, honestly, the quiet chat when the clubs are back in the car. Buggy and trolley rentals are available, the course is wheelchair accessible, and you can book your tee time online. A round on the 18-hole course is €65.
