There is a special feeling when you play golf near the sea. The air is fresh, the wind tells you a little story on every hole, and the open sky makes you feel free. I am Marina Romanik, a PGA golf instructor, and I love sharing places like this with my students. Some courses simply make you fall in love with the game all over again — and this is one of them.

A links course by the sea

Noordwijkse Golfclub sits right on the North Sea coast, inside the protected Natura 2000 dune landscape of Kennemerland-Zuid. This is real dune golf: rolling sandy hills, soft dune grasses, and wide open views that stretch toward the water. The club was founded in 1915, so it carries more than a century of golfing history with quiet pride.

The 18-hole course was shaped by Frank Pennink, of the famous design firm Cotton, Pennink, Lawrie & Co, with later work by Paul de Jong. They used the natural land beautifully. The fairways flow between the dunes, and every hole feels like part of the landscape, not built on top of it. This is why golfers speak of Noordwijk with so much respect.

It is also a course with a big reputation. Noordwijkse hosted the Dutch Open nine times between 1978 and 2001 — a true championship test that has welcomed the best players in the country. When you walk these fairways, you are walking where champions once played.

Best for golfers who already have their handicap and want to feel the magic of classic links golf. Juniors are warmly welcome here too, with a junior program that helps young players grow.
