Review by Marina Romanik

Hi, I’m Marina Romanik, a PGA-certified golf instructor. I love this game because it rewards the little things — a calmer grip, a smoother turn, a clearer plan before each shot. Whether you are picking up a club for the first time or chasing a lower handicap, I help you enjoy the journey and see real progress. Golf should feel fun, friendly and full of small wins.
The Dutch opened in 2011 and quickly became one of the most talked-about courses in the country. Set near the village of Spijk in Gelderland, it was shaped by Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie together with European Golf Design — names that tell you straight away this is a serious piece of golf architecture.
The style is links golf: open, flowing land with firm turf, clever contours and a real sense of space. It is an 18-hole, par-71 layout built to test and reward good shot-making, which is why it carries a championship reputation. Every hole asks a fair question, and answering it well feels wonderful.
What truly sets The Dutch apart is its condition. Golfers voted it the best-maintained course in the Netherlands for eight years in a row — a remarkable run that says everything about the care poured into the place. Smooth greens, crisp fairways and beautiful presentation greet you on every visit.
The Dutch is a members’ club, so it has a calm, private feel. On site you will find a full driving range, a putting green and a short-game practice area, plus a pro shop, a welcoming restaurant, bar and terrace, buggies, lockers and showers. There is also a golf academy with lessons — a place built for players who want to keep getting better.
Best for: ambitious players who enjoy a true links test and dream of polished, tournament-level golf. If you are working toward that level — and want to look right at home when you get there — a little coaching makes all the difference.

A links course like The Dutch rewards control: a steady ball flight, smart use of the ground, and the confidence to commit to each shot. Those are exactly the skills we build together, step by step, in a relaxed and friendly way.
I teach all ages and levels — children and adults, beginners and improvers, men and women — and I speak Dutch, English, Ukrainian and Russian, so you always feel understood. Wherever you play, a few good lessons sharpen your game and make every round more fun.

Yes. As a championship links course with a strict private atmosphere, The Dutch requires players to hold a valid handicap. This keeps the pace of play enjoyable for everyone on the course.
