Parkland at Amelisweerd

Utrechtse Golf Club Amelisweerd sits on the old Amelisweerd estate on the edge of Utrecht, just four minutes from the city centre. Gerard Jol designed the 18 holes here, set out in two loops of mature parkland — tree-lined fairways, a par of 70, and 6,057 metres from the back tees. From the club’s own description it is a classic parkland round, where the trees ask you to place the ball with care rather than simply hit it far.

Golfers on LeadingCourses give it 7.8 out of 10 from 503 ratings, and Hole19 golfers score it a full 5 out of 5 (checked 11 October 2026). Those numbers point to a course that rewards thought as much as power.

Amelisweerd is a challenging parkland course, so it suits players who already hold a handicap and have a repeatable swing first of all. If your game is still growing, a few lessons before you play will make the round here far more enjoyable.

What a visitor needs

Amelisweerd works on an introduction basis — you play as the guest of a member — and a valid handicap card, a Dutch GVB or international equivalent, is checked before you tee off. The green fee is €57.50 for 18 holes or €36 for 9, tee times can be booked online, and the course is open year-round.

For practice there is a floodlit driving range, a putting green and a short-game area, with a golf academy on site. The clubhouse has a pro shop, a restaurant and a terrace, and buggies, clubs and trolleys are all there to hire.

The reward of good placement

Jol’s fairways run between the trees, so a good round at Amelisweerd comes from placement and tempo far more than raw distance. Before a player takes on parkland like this, I most enjoy working on a swing they can repeat and a short game that stays calm near the green. That is where the better scores on a course like this really come from.
